Atmospheric pressure is the force that air exerts on the surface of the body.

대기압은 공기의 압력이 피부를 누르는 힘을 얘기합니다.

Breathing and gas exchange in the lungs depend on appropriate atmosphheric pressure.

숨쉬는 것과 폐에서의 산소와 이산화탄소의 교체는 이 대기압에 의해 좌우가 됩니다.

At high altitudes where atmospheric pressure is lower and the air is thin, gas exchange may be inadequate to support cellular metabolism.

고도가 높은 곳에서는 대기압이 낮고 공기가 희박해 이 산소 이산화탄소 교체가 충분치 않아 세포의 신진대사가 저해될 수 있습니다.

 

 

 

The mere presence of these survival factors is not sufficient to sustain life.

They must be present in appropriate amounts.

그냥 이 생존 요소들이 존재한다고 생명이 유지되기에 충분한 것이 아닙니다.

각 요소마다 적당량씩 필요합니다.

Not too much. Not too little.

예를 들어 충분한 영양분이, 너무 많이도 적게도 아닌 양이 필요합니다.

While the needs listed above are most crucial, they do not even begin to encompass all of the body's needs.

For example, we can live without gravity if we must, but the quality of life suffers.

생존 요소에 들어간 요인들이 가장 결정적이지요. 하지만 그것들이 몸의 필요를 다 말해준다고 할 수는 없습니다. 예를 들어 중력 없이도 필요하다면 우리는 살 수 있지만 삶의 질이 떨어지겠지요.
