To introduce Child in the Midst by George MacDonald

The author presupposes the child Jesus picked up to his bosom as the child of Peter and his spouse.

As a Christian, we might attempt a counter argument to how the Lord chose a child with childlike quality and beauty.

Shouldn't the child have been pinched with hunger and avariciousness  to demonstrate to us the love we should have towards the weak, the frail, the discarded and the unwanted?

 

MacDonald brings forth a point of marvelous revolutionary reconciliation.

We humans lack the capability to sufficiently recognize and much more to embody the true childlike quality enough to understand this divine quality as Jesus himself would have us empathize with.

For the sake of making the divine qualities in a child manifest to us, Jesus had to favor a child like Peter's offspring, a little one with an angelic countenance such as a being in heaven could be likened to.
